I have a 97 chevy s10 pickup. I was told I need a new center link and idler arm. My friend took a look at it and said I only needed a new center link. How do you know if you need a new center link? How do you know if you need a new idler arm? Can I get an alignment without replacing thoses parts?

Most shops will not allow you to get an alignment with a worn out front end, because then the alignment is useless.

When the idler arm goes bad, your truck will start floating all over the road. doesnt want to stay straight. Center link im not so sure, i took my truck in to get an alignment and they told me it needed replaced, so i replaced it.

When you turn the wheel slightly the truck moves the direction you wanted to go.

Mine, I have slight play.. meaning there is slop in the wheel I can turn the wheel both directions slightly and not affect the direction of the truck.
