Hi all, first time poster and I really need some insight about an electrical issue I am having with my 87 chevy s10. A few months back my dash lights started cutting out. Over time it started happening more frequently until they just stopped working. About a week later I turned on my lights and smoke started coming from under my dash. I found my T/L CTSY fuse melted. I also dug around more and found theorange wire coming from my light switch and running to the T/L CTSY fuse was melted, and the brown wire from the switch and running through the firewall to continue to the rear light harness was also burned. I have traced the wires and can replace them, but before I do that I want to know if this issue has been seen before and if there may be something else causing it that I can fix to prevent this from happening again

The brown wire should be park/tail lights. Fuse must be way bigger than what should be there.

Fuses are there to protect the wiring. To big of a fuse will allow more current to flow through the wire than the wire can handle. Resulting in damaged wire, components or both. Double check the fuse size. Like HR stated, it may be bigger than it should be.
