I see aftermarket MAF and thermostats on peoples list of mods.
What difference does this make, why change them?
Does the stock MAF restrict air intake?

Also, a Throttle Body Spacer, any point in getting one of those?
I am looking for bolt ons for my 02 Xtreme 4.3V6 5-Speed.
Thanks,

Well the stock stat is 195* and you put a 180* in there you shouldnt have any problems running rich or the computer throwing codes. Running any lower than that is not good on the motor. Stock is ok too but I dont like the performance it gives out when its running 195* . Dont do nothing with the maf. Leave it alone that strictly tells computer what a/f ratio should be used. It doesnt restrict airflow that is your filter and box. The only time you will need any new maf is if you supercharge or completely put some new intake manifold on your motor. Go with a programmer from superchips. Its better than the hp3.

Excellent, one last thing.
What about a throttle body spacer?
What difference does that make, is it worth it?
I don't think I could install one right now because of my warranty, but I'd still like to know.
Thanks again!

A throttle body spacer does very little or nothing for power when the fuel injection is below the TB.
Spacers are better suited for TB injected engines abd carbed engines.

The stock MAF does not restrict air flow.

Buy a computer programmer such as Hypertech or Superchips. You can program it, but when you take it in for warranty work, just uninstall it in about 2 minutes!
