I have a 2003 s10 2.2l 5 speed i got for a project minitruck my goal for it would to achieve a power to weight ratio of 10:1 to 8:1 without a turbo or supercharger. I was looking to get a lt1 with a t56 magnum trans with the Holley terminator x ecu and I know the rear end cant handle that much power so was going to do a Camaro rear end swap but not entirely sure what else is needed for it to drive. As far as mechanically inclined I've done small repairs to the 2.2l but never swapped a engine or trans before and was looking to see and talk about what other people ran into as far as what they were missing or forgot to get or if there's better options to what I'm trying to do. I know it will probably cost around 12k or more if I go with new parts but some will be pulled or bought off a junkyard to cut some of the budget but there is a few things I will buy new cause I don't want to risk malfunction. Basically all I'm asking is there anything I'm missing on my list so far.

Edit: I'm doing a gen v lt1 swap

If you go to the V8 section and do some searching there were a number of S10's with LT1 T56 swaps done in the past. You might pickup some pointers. I agree the rearend should be good since it's the same basic rearend that was in the Camaros with that combo. Unless you plan to put CalTracs and slicks on it regularly. In which case a race truck should have a Ford 9".

..dont want to sound like a broken record, but I won’t ever swap a sbc into an s10. The LS platform is in my opinion, such a better platform in nearly every way. An LT1 is a decent engine, but almost 30 years old technology. Youre literally leaving nearly 200 free hp on the table just by choosing an old platform like that. For the price of the terminator x ecu, you can pickup a 4.8/5.3 and the wiring harness and ecu.

I can keep going on, but in this day and age, and for sell ability later down the road, the LS platform makes much more sense.

I'm not convinced that for the budget minded the LS is the only answer. The LT1 design is only 5 years older than the LS1. 92 Corvette vs 97.
That being said there is one potential problem with putting a 92-96 engine in a 2003. It's illegal Federally and in most States to swap an older engine into a vehicle. If you have inspections or ever want to sell it to someone subject to inspections the truck could get black flagged and registration refused permanently by the offended DMV. Bureaucrats can get weird about things they like that.
If you're some where like NY, PA or CA don't even think about it
That setup is more appropriate for a first gen or early 2nd gen thru about 96.

I'm talking about the gen v lt1 the motor gm has used in the camaro and corvettes since 2013 like from the c7 vette they used 2014-2019 and the camaro so from 2016 to present

The tuning and fuel system will be challenges. The headers and mounts will need to be custom made. Please start a build thread as this will be a first. At least on here.

Ya I expected the fuel system was going to be tricky same with the header interfering with steering column ive come across a couple threads of some problems other people have run into but as far as the fuel system I was going to do a tank delete and run a cell in the bed once I get a hard cover for it. I've gotten most of my list from reading on what others did and once I start the build process I'll make a build post so people can follow my journey and I can also ask question along the way if I run Into any snags. But yall have helped me a lot and I got a lot of my questions answered will be posting more when I get the parts. Also not going to run ac just to free up some space in the engine bay as well.

what is the reason to use that engine? Thats alot of extra money, time and labor for no real gain in the end.
for the price and the parts you listed, a gen 3 or 4 you can have 1000rwhp and no headaches
I can agree with you on that one. I had access to bent frame 16 camaro that had the gen 5 in it but it had the automatic in it and my buddy had a t56 I was going to get from him but he's rebuilding his c7 since he blew the last one at the track so I let him have the gen 5 in exchange when a good motor comes in to his yard I get first dibs. So ill have to change plans but my firewall and sub frame was getting in the way and didn't feel like spending the time to try to fit it. So going at it with a different approach I also have a 3rd gen dodge with the 4.7 in it and my buddy says he has a couple hemis in his yard but I'm tempted and I know I'll have to get custom mounts for either engine.

Ideally I want to try to push 400whp without a turbo or supercharger but if I can get a motor that pushes it close to that I'll turbo it but my goal I to hit 400whp without to much time invested but it will be about a year process with the hopes of finishing it sooner. Currently doing a budget build with room to grow. It will be more of a club car then track car but still want some power when we are cruising on the interstate so I don't get left behind and when we do club races (aka street light to street light).

Avoid a 4.7 Hemi the same way you’d avoid a 5.4 Triton, and the 5.7s have a tendency to eat cam lobes
Ya my dodge is currently running but has a idle problem but the s10 is my daily and the clutch needs to be replaced cause I can float 2nd thru 5th but if I use the clutch to shift all it does is slip so working on the clutch and slave cylinders for now and hopefully that will fix it. I was also reading up on the 5.7s and they are not like the 426s anymore.
