From what I've seen, LS1 fans are more pricey then say.. a ford taurus or olds cutlass cialis fan. There are much more cost effective ways to do it. All you need is a fan that will push close to what the stock fan will do. The fan doesn't increase hp, it just allows less load to be put on the accessory belt, so any e-fan swap will give you the same amount of gains.

true, the LS1 fans fit the 4.3 radiator perfectly and they flow a lot of air, no worries about overheating and you're keeping it all chevy

LT1 fans work just as well too though

I PM'd a guy that has done the LS1 swap, and he said it only cost him $170 bucks for the hole swap so. But i dunno about the no shroud thing, have to ask someone that knows.

no shroud, hell when I used taurus fans, I didn't use the shroud.....the lt1 or ls1 fans just fit the 4.3 radiator the best it seems

This is my swap- LT1 Electric fans conversion

I did it to be able control my temperature, and match the 180* stat. It is 100*+ here and they have been doing fine keeping cool with the AC going.

I would suggest upgrading the alternator though. When things get hot the stock alternator is having a hard time keeping up while at idle speeds.
I cooled the alternator off signifigantly, and have no voltage drops after going to a CS144 alternator and an assist from ducted cooling.

Here is that thread on the S-10CREWCAB.COM forum - Bigger alternator

Ok, so let's say I go to a salvage garage or buy a fan set up from EBay, what do I need to make sure I get everything? What is it that I need with the fans? And, what year camero's or LS1/ LT1 fans work best? Last, I tow a lot and want to make sure these things are going to do the job.

you wire the fans to a temp switch, and the switch to a + Connection, and then ground the - on the fan,, or you could do it the hillbille way and just wire the fans to a relay and then to a switch like i did on my mom's skylark, lol
