I just purchased a 03 S10 PU with the ZQ8 suspension and will use this rather then my Blazer, so one change is the oil pan. Being the ZQ8 is about 1.5" lower then standard what is the pan of choice using a 5.3, and notching the crossmember?
Appreciate the help.

Does anyone have any more current information on which pan fits the best on a second gen 2 wheel drive? It seems that a LS2 pan is my best option at the moment. I definitely don't want the oil pan to be any lower than the crossmember.

The holley pan may be an option for you. Its shallower than the H3 pan and depending on the mounts you use shouldn't need a notch.

I have a 97 truck, H3 pan, 5.3
Passenger side cylinders still 1/4 inch from firewall.
Touching oil pan on cross member.
Now I have to notch crossmember.
H3 pan fitting with a/c seems like BS.
Oh well, I keep moving forward.

Has anyone tried using the CTSV pan? It looks very similar in dimension to the pans that work. That's the one I have already, might just try it and see how close it is before I either order the Holley pan 302-1 or start cutting my crossmember.

Resurrecting an old thread to keep it all in one place.

Did anyone ever get the Holley pans in/working? There are also 2 Holley pans now-

Also found this: http://shop.gforce1320.com/product.sc?productId=218

Wondering if the 302-1 + spacer would work without any cross member notching. The spacer would be to allow for some stroking. (Not sure if it would do the full 4.00 for 383 on LS 5.3 or not though). From earlier in the thread it seemed Holley pan works but for in-truck removal the cross member needs to be notched. Though if you didn't care to be able to remove it in truck, you could do un-notched?

Or is the H3 still the only fit without notch option for 2nd gen 2wds and if so, anyone know the max stroke it allows?

I have the 302-1 on my 416 LS3 with no problems at all with the stroke of the crankshaft. The Hummer pan (GM muscle car pan) will fit but hang down below the crossmember about an inch. If you had a blazer it would be perfect. If your bagged or very low that might concern you. Welding a plate on the bottom of the crossmember that matches the pan would alleviate that problem. I don't forsee any reason to have to take the pan off "in vehicle" unless you put a drain plug for a F.I. return line.

Does anyone have an update for pan to use on 1st gen 6.0l swap for use with bags. I don't mind notching if need be. Tried to find LS2 pan and apparently they are discontinued in Canada. Any help is appreciated.

Check out my thread, mine is not a 1st gen but I do believe the frames are very similar. 302-1 is the one to use but will require a small notch.

I'm putting a second gen frame under my first gen, so that's good to know! I'm ordering my gmpp ls3 in the next two months . I read earlier in this thread that the ls3 pan is identical to the ls2 pan. My question is, is the ls3 pan provided with the crate engine the same as the vette ls3? I'm certainly not afraid of notching the crossmember, I just need to make sure I have all the proper information for my fabricator to keep the build running smoothly.

Looks like this sticky oil pan thread is open for further discussion so here's a real fun situation I've found myself in with my swap. My truck is a 2000 Xtreme 2.2L 4L60E SC, the swap engine is a 2003 5.3 LM4 (VIN P) from a TrailBlazer. Here's the pan problem, I bought the Chevy H3 retro kit from dealer complete with windage tray/baffle/dipstick etc...
Apparently, the TrailBlazer blocks aren't drilled for dipstick tubes and none of the aftermarket retro pans for swaps have the dipstick tubes built into the pan...they go through the block. hhhmmm, Anyone know of any low profile pans that will fit my Xtreme with tube in the pan? I sure can't seem to find any and there doesn't seem to be a place on the block to drill the tube port.
Only options I can think of is maybe modify the stock TrailBlazer pan (PIA)? Or just use the H3 and go without a dipstick relying on a possible oil level switch (if it has one)?
Any ideas would be appreciated.
