Just the messenger, this happened in my local town. Kinda seems like you’d be able to pull off the road.

According to CHP, at around 9:30 p.m., a pickup truck was traveling eastbound on SR-299E in the #2 lane when, for reasons still under review, the truck stalled and lost electric power--including its lights.

Also traveling eastbound on SR-299E in the #2 lane, a Shasta County Sheriff's Deputy reportedly didn't see the stalled pickup truck with no lights and collided into it.

Wonder if the cop was texting and driving.... I usually see cars without lights on and flash them.
I sure hope not - that would be really bad form (read: dumb), and in most places illegal. It certainly looks like Shasta County Unit 95 will be out of commission for a 'wee bit'. I hope there were no injuries, and I'd like to see the extent on the truck just out of curiosity. There are still too many outstanding details to draw any meaningful conclusions.

I actually volunteer for Shasta county search and rescue, I carry a “get out of jail free” ID card in my wallet. I know a lot of them and they’re just normal dudes with some authority. And like any slice of the population, 10% are complete *
