i'm new and i've started driving an 2000 S-10 LS with 4.3L V6, i'm wondering if the limiter is apart of the fuel management or is it a separate speed limiter, and if anyone has got a straight through chip or replaced the chip how much does it cost, and for either one will it ruin your gas mileage if you get around the limiter?

thanks for any and all answers

Pretty much the only way to get rid of (or at least reset) the speed limiter is to get an HPP3 or any other programmer.

The limiter is a fuel cut. And there is another way around it if you have a 5-speed. You can unplug your VSS (vehicle speed sensor) from the back of the transmission. Now the computer can't see that the truck is moving, so their is no more speed limit. The only problems is you also lose your speedo, odo and ABS (tach will still work). Its something you can do for a quick race, not daily driving.
