Left blinker won’t turn off on my 97

Went to town this morning and noticed my left blinker won’t turn off. The lever still pops back into “neutral” position after I make the turn. All appears it’s functioning as it should. BUT my left blinker still won’t turn off. The right blinker works perfect. Even tried turning the truck off and back on but yet… the left blinker is still active. Any suggestions before I dig into it?

Does the left signal stop flashing if the right signal is working?

Have you exercised the hazard switch several cycles to see if that alters the behavior?

Tore into it this evening. The switch is indeed the issue. Got a new one at the parts store and will be putting it in tomorrow.
Just for fun, what color was the emergency flasher button? The originals were red and the replacements were black. The part number is here on the forum someplace. The cost back in the day was less than $25. They are extremely fragile and will break off if not careful removing the bezel. GM has a repair kit that’s less involved than the entire switch. All that’s need is a pair of needle nose pliers to pull the remains of the old one out, grease the new one and push it into place. While I can’t confirm it, I believe a small piece can be overlooked and jam the new switch causing your problem. This is from 1st hand experience. I might have kept my old switch when I exchanged the column for a ‘97 that had a floor shifter. I’ll have to take a look.

The hazard button broke off. I went and got another switch at Oreilly’s. No idea you could replace just the button. But the new one I just bought the button is red too.
