As someone who tunes OBD1 ECMs I feel that I need to correct incorrect information about it when someone posts it. I have lots of real hands on experience with OBD1 (Even helped start one of the go to forums for OBD1 GM tuning years ago, and help moderate another), I have made combinations work that so called experts said would never work, whereas it seems that other people in this thread don't and are just repeating bad information that has been said by other people with little to no experience with OBD1, that doesn't help anyone looking to tune their OBD1 vehicle. There's no need to throw thousands of dollars and unnecessary hardware at a simple change. I have seen this far too often, I also tune plenty of aftermarket systems and see people spending WAY too much on systems that they will never make full or even use half of the capabilities of that system, because somebody on the interweebs told them they needed to buy the wizbang device to solve all of their issues.

In the end the OP will do what they feel best for themselves, I just can't stand by when bad information is posted misleading people.
This is perfect. If you're still tuning OBD1, why not help this guy out? As long as you can do it from the eastern end of Canada while he's on the US west coast.
Again...what does the OP ned to supply you in order for you to burn him a chip? If you can't do it because of distance, do you know of someone in the US that might be able to help?

Don't rag on me. BK and I told him the truth in the first few posts. Then someone who is an early EFI nerd comes along and wants to argue semantics about what can or can't be done, or should I say what was done back in the day when MS DOS was what the worlds PC's ran on. Yes, if you buy the chips and equipment, you can learn how to do it yourself. I admitted that a few posts back. Not what the post was about. For all practical purposes, No, there is not a "Chip" to do what the OP wants. That point has never been questioned. The rest of the world has moved on. 33 years of technology later we're arguing about antiques. 20 years ago when there were a few "Chips" available they were for V8's or 4.3's.
And those were a waste of money.
I'm not ragging on you. Just tired of you guys peeing in each others cereal bowl.

I AM helping the OP with what I'm posting. I'm correcting incorrect or misleading information so that they can get what they desire in the end.

I've already stated what I need to tune the truck and it isn't feasible, if the OP is indeed not only across borders but many thousand miles away.

Why does no one pay attention to what I write?

If the OP wants to pursue a tune that will actually be beneficial to them, I can certainly point them in the right direction, whether they want to to do it themselves or work with someone local to them. I'm waiting to see what the OP wants before making suggestions.

So you are a OBD1 Guru. Great.
How does that help the guy who simply wanted to buy a chip, stick it in a drive it? Seems even the great Guru can't do that! Which is what we told the guy in the first replies.
Everything you say is probably right, but us S10 knuckle draggers don't live in that parallel universe with all that tecno wizardry. We simply want to replace a part with a better one that improves our trucks. Not go back to school to learn another entire field.
I'm sure there are others out there who could teach us all about camshaft design or cylinder heads. I don't want to know how they work. Just which ones do.
You have not told him where to get that chip he wants.

I have already explained why there isn't a chip like the OP wants, and why I don't feel I can personally provide that chip for them, because again, for the 15th time, a tune for fuel economy increase, is an iterative process that is not a simple, check mark the box for increased fuel economy, and whala, maximum fuel economy achieved. It's because if this iterative process, along with my policy of not remote tuning, that I will direct the OP to the information they need to accomplish what the OP wants, once they decide if they want to do the tuning themself or work with someone local to them.

It's also not that difficult to learn, hence why there are forums and pages of information on how to tune just about any vehicle out there along with books, videos, etc. It's also much easier to get into tuning today than it was when I started, since it's not a black magic, it's a process, and there is a lot of information available at your fingertips.

For the LAST time there is no off the shelf chip that will provide increased milage, at least not as a reason to install that chip, and the OP will need to respond with how they want to go about increasing their fuel economy, at which point I can provide guidance on it, since there are other things that can be done instead of or along with a tune for increasing fuel economy.
