Even without the frame being turned into a tank, a 5 gal tank (average size) weighs less than 20 lbs. So that makes the plumbing of an air system 120 lbs to possibly 150 lbs if you get wild with it. And as stated before any work you do to a frame with air you have to do with dros as well. Not trying to diss bro but I've had both systems and am well versed with both as well, therefore I can honestly say I know an average air system is lighter than an average dro system. Plain and simple.

Using your calculations, my air ride system on my blazer weighs approximately 200 pounds less than your dro system and mine is an advanced, not basic set of components.

But what is 200 pounds, the same as one adult person. Is that enough to say that your truck is weight down?

If it is too much then something is wrong.

Whatever weight you add the the back of a truck as far as frame fabrication when adding air is irrellevant because you have to add the same amount of shit or more to run hydro.

QUOTE]

The back doesnt need a lot of extras, its all about how you want to roll. But if were compairing basic with basic then there isnt much to add.

Heres my mounts on a stock frame, how much weight is added?

Its all different on a case to case basis, when I said they were the same amount of work I was reffering to the norm of laying frame which you wont do without frame modification. So I guess the equal to that picture would be a 2 or 4 link which you would need as well with hydros meaning that part is irrelevant as well with a bag on bar (weight comparison between a 2600 bag and that hydro cylinder is prob about 3:1) setup granting potentially the same or more lift depending on placement. But were talking 2 - 7 pound compressors 2 - 10 pound air tanks and 10 pounds of valves and tubing. VS however many gallons of hydro oil, the tank, the hoses and lines which are much heavier than dot air line, pumps, dumps, 4 batterys at 60 a pop... Do you need another alternator? Im not real familiar with car hydraulics just heavy equipment im just going on general estimates, im used to stuff thats alot bigger. Like I said im a fan of hydraulics i think they are amazing, I just dont think they are the logical choice as far as weight, ride quality, price, maitenance... As far as this lowered truck application goes... Key word is logical, as far as daily driver type stuff and when money is an object, if you just like them have the cash and wanna build a custom more power to ya...

i've had a coupe deville with 'draulics and i've had a square body '78 chevy pickup on 'bags.as was said there are pros and cons to both;as far as batteries draining on 'draulic cars,i had a street charger on my batts so it charged the batts as you drove.i like both styles.

Either way we all have our own preferance and beliefs but I feel there is a lot of misconception about the opposing choice due to a lack of knowledge of both parties. Most air ride guys believe every dro setup leaks, its heavy, leaves you stranded when the batteries drain, require 4-6 batteries and is expensive to maintain. Most hydro guys believe you have to wait forever for air, you have to have "nitrogen" bottles, you cant get much lift, the air leaks, its heavy, you cant "play" with bags etc. I've OWNED and USED both setups and to be honest they both accomplish what we all desire...its something different from the norm and we can adjust our suspension. That's all there is to it. Neither is better or worse than the other. What makes a system "good" is not what you have, but the quality of craftsmanship put into making it operate correctly and most of all SAFELY.

I have both juiced and bagged rides. The things i love bout the juice.
-the sound both up and down
-not waiting for compressors (includes not having to listen to them)
-the look of having 5 optima red tops across the back of my frame

I hope juicin' it isn't dead, i check everyday to see what is posted. But most are into bags now, which i will say i like bags just as much as the next. Juice has it's hazards and downfalls but then again so does bags. Maybe people will go back to running juice more often.

Pic of my POS project i call her Naomi

My next "ride" / "project" IM JUCIN IT 100%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The hydro market and scene sucks. Its like the companies were created down on skid row or something.

But if your a suspension enthusiast, I guess you have no choice. However its definitely alot easier to piece together a solid air system than it is a hydro system, without building every single component yourself that is. I'd love to see a revolution in the hydro world, but I seem to be the only one

a s10 is one of the easiest and simplest trucks to bag, (bolt on airbag kits to lay out) this being a s10 forum, the bag section is loaded, hydraulic section is very light.

hydraulics are as popular as bags, if not more so, just not specifically here on s10 forum

if that blazer doesnt have it, it should lol

thats a clean caprice, who did the roof?

i'm not sure if i want to cut the blazer for hydros, with it having the open top and all. It has a tonneau cover, but still. If there was a way to do a hidden set up, juice or air, i might consider it. i saw one once with the pumps under the truck where the gas tank is located and they put a fuel cell in it, but it was a show truck.

a friend of mine in Alabama painted the caprice btw

I think Lowriders are beautiful artwork, however I feel like most of the guys on here wanna go fast. and be low, It might be hard to do that with a few extra hundred pounds of batteries in the truck. But here in houston i see low riders everywhere and they are absolutely gorgeous,
