This is two parts the service 4x4 never comes on, and currently have a ruptured dash pot for front axle engagement. The rear hatch warning light. And is the cargo area light supposed to work when hatch is opened? Or is the switch in latch assembly just to break wiper circuit when open?

On the 4wd part there is a switch on the front differential that's connected to your 4wd dash light. It's supposed to provide power to the 4wd indicator only when the axle is engaged. I don't remember seeing any codes, etc. when the front doesn't engage. The actuator is easy to replace. Check to be sure the old one didn't have ATF in it. If it did, replace your 4wd vacuum switch on the drivers side top front of the transfer case and flush out or replace the hose to the actuator. ATF eats natural rubber diaphragms. The latest GM (DO NOT NEVER EVER USE DORKMAN) vacuum switch is sealed better.
