I have a 2002 4wd blazer with 150xxx on it and I got in it yesterday and was 5 minutes down the road, my dash lights cut out on me, then the engine started to sputter and died. After that I couldn't even get it to turn over. Ignition clicked when I tried to turn it over like it had a dead battery. So I pushed it over to a side road and got a jump start. When I got in to start it my cluster lit up like normal and it started. I took the cables off told the folks thank you shut my hood and when I got back in the dash was dead again and it sputtered and died again. Also before the jump start my radio came on with the keys out of the ignition. Ive never had any sort of electrical issues. I tried a different battery to entertain the idea of it being a dead celled battery making it do weird stuff. I'm going to try a jump and obd2 reader and a voltage mete

All good ideas posted so far.

-Make sure the battery and alternator are good.
-As said above, the battery cables corrode on the inside, so at least a new positive cable may be needed.
-A bad ignition switch on my s-10 caused me intermittent problems

Let us know when you get it fixed what it was.

Sorry everyone been busy lately and yesterday was finally able to get an alternator put on and that allowed for the blazer to idle but when I gave it a little gas, just a little stab of the throttle. It would idle way down beyond typical idle rpm, sputter and almost die. I did let it run for about 15 minutes before doing that . Then I turned it off and when I tried to start it again it barely turned over maybe 6 times real slow . But wouldn't start again under its own power. Gonna get a truckle charger on it after work if I can find one and check my body grounds before getting to much further into my wallet. 150 for a alternator these days ...

Would the ignition control module be a possibility. I had my friend mention that to me last night. Also do the second gens have the same ground bolts on either side of the underneath side of the dash

The new alternative was the ticket. The issue after words was that the battery wasn't pulling enough charge in that 15 minute run time to come back up to par. It was 10°F outside. The next day I put a trickle charger on it for a few hours and now all is well ...as far as that issua anyhow. Thank you everyone for the assistance.
