jl audio 6.5" components w/1" tweeter for doors

jl audio 4" 2 ways for dash

a auxillary stinger battery

im gonna custom build the box

i think im gonna go with PPI amps not sure how much power yet.

i was told around $1500.00 for JUST the speakers no amps or anything else. does any one know where i might be able to get it cheaper.

Well, if I were you, I'd save some cash and not get 10's and 12's, just go with the 12's. Mixing sub sizes so close together is typically a no-no...it's gonna sound like crap. Plus, 2 of those Eclipse TI's will be more than enough for the inside of a pickup. Whatever shop you're going to should have told you not to mix sub sizes, unless you're gonna mount 8's up front and cross them over as dedicated mid-bass (say 80-200 hz, or wherever the 6 1/2's are gonna take over) and x-over the 12's below 80. 10's and 12's together just don't sound good without SERIOUS EQ work, like a good 31 band eq, someone who's good with an RTA, and a whole lot of time. Skip the 10's...you'll save some cash for amps and be much happier in the long run.

LMG is right...for 1500, you could have a kick ass system...not just the speakers. Eclipse is killer equpment, but for the cash, there's comprable stuff out there. The best thing I can tell you to do is hit every damn shop in town and listen to everything you can. Don't let cost, brand or salespeople sway you. Find what sounds good to you. Remember too, that car audio is 95% install. I've heard 3000$ systems sound like a$s, and 500$ set ups sound clear as a bell...Do some more research before you make a decision...pick up the magazines...Car Audio & Electronics is my personal favorite....hit the car audio forums, sounddomain.com, termpro.com, CarAudio.com....see what these guys are running...ask questions. You're the one that hasta listen to it every day, not the salesman...Any more questions, just let us know...

how much room you willing to give up?

how many subs would you like?

how crazy do you wanna go?

are you mainly after spl or sq?

without a doubt the sub amp i would pick is the jbl bp1200.1

close to 1400 watts at 14.4 volts
gives off max power at both 1 and 2 ohms
real cheap (260 on ebay from scala1)

let me know more or less what your goal with this setup is and then we can talk from there

So it seems...

Zonk is trying to tranship. Thank you Zonk, you are putting the local audio stores out of business, and in the process destroying customer service.

what the difference in box type?
ive always thought sealed soundede bestt but then ive never heard a good system built in a bandpass either.
my buddy has his system built in a ported box w/ 4 rf hx2s. it sounds good but i think the sealed sounds deeper.

also i listen to all kinds of music (linkin park, mac dre, darude, staticx you name it i prbably like it) so what would be best

The seald does sound deeper. A ported box won't play below it's tuning freq. I personally prefer sealed, for my own listening. Ported boxed get insanely loud, with less power, but you usually (not always) sacrifice some sound quality. If you're more SQ Based, I'd stick with the sealed box. The sealed box requirements for the IDQ's are less than 1 cu. ft. after sub displacement...and they'll sound great. Stay away from bandpass, unless you're ready to shell out the cash to have a reputable installer build one for you from scratch. the pre-fab ones are crap, unless you really like listnening to one note all the time. Stick with the sealed box for general listening purposes, you'll be quite happy.

4 subs huh? if you wanna do that and only keep one sub amp you are gonna need low power subs like the IDQs, JL W3s, KICKER COMP VRs, ORION XTRs. they are all somewhat mainstream since they are pretty cheap and the companies are well known, they can also be run sealed. i say the most original out of all of them would have to be the IDQs. do 4 of any of them and you will get the sound quality you want along with the bass that will be heard from blocks.

oh and remember: ebay is your best friend

on ebay the jbl bp1200.1 will run you about 260 plus shipping

on ebay the IDQs should run you about 100 or so plus shipping

the KICKER COMP VRs should run you about 75 a pop

the ORION XTRs and JL W3s are about 150 a pop

so at most the subs and amp are gonna run you 900.

this is just what i came up with off the top of my head, let me know what you think. if you want i can go into real detail

the IDQ 12's need about 300 watts rms....the specs say 350, but I've seen guys running them with as little as 250 and they still sing. You could easily do 4 of them off of the BP1200.1, and they'd sound great. Be careful with that amp, though...It draws a sh!tload of current...it's got 3 40 amp fuses on the amp itself. If you do decide to go with that amp and sub combo, I'd suggest running at least 4-ga. cable and a 100 amp circuit breaker.

well...im not worried about running only one amp.if i ran 2 subs off 2 amps i could still make that setup clean.then run 1 4 channel amp to my highs.
with just my 2 compressors and my one amp and sub now ...if all of them are running at the same time my lights dim.should i go with a bigger alternator also?
dont forget i want to run an extra battery or at least one big one.
