I hate Miles

Ok, so I took my truck in today to Miles Chevrolet 'cuz of that damn whistling sound coming from the dash/speaker grill area. I took my mom's car ('02 Eclipse Spyder) to school after I dropped her off at work.

I get out of school and take my girlfriend home and I see that I have 2 missed calls and a voicemail message. I'm thinking "Cool. My truck is fixed and everything is good now." The guy on the message said it was fixed but I needed to call another guy about what was wrong or something.

I was wrong. I called my mom 'cuz she picked my truck up to bring it home and she said "No, I can still hear it." Son of a bi*ch. I am pissed. Apparently, the guy told my mom when she picked it up was that all 2001 S10's have this problem. It is not a recall, but a bulletin that is sent to all dealerships stating this problem. Now, I don't know if this is true, but even if it is, the guy shouldn't have lied to me saying that it was fixed.

They told my mom to have me call the transmission guy and set up a new appointment. WHY? IT IS COMING FROM THE VENT! Damn, dealership.

Anyways, sorry for the ranting, but I am just pissed. I want a new dash or something! This noise is driving me insane! :madfinger:

so where exactly is this coming from i have a 01 also and ill see if i have whatever it is your talking about. is it when you have the stereo on or off and when does it whistle??
Thats odd, I don't have that but of course I've got an 02. ;)

Miles has usually been good to me, and they don't seem to care too much about all my modifications. I had a year of free Oil Changes with my lease, and they never said anything...one service rep even commented on how nice my truck was with all the sh!t done to it.
It is coming from the top of the dash, like by the big defrost vent and the speaker grills. It does it with the music on and with it off. And I think if your truck did it, you would be able to hear it. It sounds like a damn quail or something inside my truck.

And yeah, I have gotten complements on my truck, too. When I took it in, a few of them were talking about my relocated tailgate handle. They have been really good to me every time, but I just don't see why he would say it was fixed when it wasn't?
A high pitched whistle would be annoying as hell!

Does the noise get louder/faster as the rev's increase? If they recomended a tranny specialist, well, the top of the transmission is right under that part of the dash...any grinding/rubbing/friction type noises could resonate up through that venting there...dunno :dunno: Do you have an Auto or Stick?

It starts at about 2500 RPMs and stops around 3300 RPMs, but it does it in every gear. When I floor it, it sounds like a really fast grinding sound at around 5000 RPMs.

I didn't know about the tranny thing. I will call the guy today. I have an auto, also.
