My ‘91 S10 only blows air out of the floor vents. When I change the HVAC selector, to either Heater or Defrost, I hear a hissing sound for a few seconds near the vents which I’ve selected but no air comes out. There are a fair amount of posts on the forum related to this, but wanted to know if this was a common issue based on my description and where the best place to look first would be.

Moved to Heating/AC. Start with the vacuums lines ion the engine compartment. They've probably never been changed and have deteriorated to the point there are splits/holes in the line.

^^First place to look is under the hood at the vacuum lines. See if any are dry rotted or cracked and that the reservoir ball is hooked up.
If everything there is OK, then look at the vacuum actuator under the dash that switches from floor to defrost to be sure it is working and connected.
This might be helpful if it's not the usual underhood problem. See post#5
