5 speed manual when I jump into the cab. CA Licence plate too. Sorry, I chose Richmond VA BC I thought I'd get more help from being on the EAST coast. Boy, was I wrong. Sorry, I still live in San Diego.

Anyone know off-hand the gauge wire needed when adding new wires, specifically for the fuel injectors? "Gauge" is a painstakingly difficult search term, if you're not looking for a temp gauge. :)

My wire stripper strips it on the 22-20 AWG Stranded slot. So.. I'm going to go with 20 gauge unless someone can correct that.

Also, is there a source for these pins that go on the end? Since I'm adding wires, obviously I don't have any extra pins laying around to borrow from.

I believe I used 18ga. Make sure they're all weather. I got my pins off eBay. They're a rip off. I'd suggest just using factory wiring pins with the wire attached and solder the new wire to it. It was hard for me to get the pins into the plugs with the wire I used.

I think I found a good source for those pins. However, I'm taking your advice and getting some good solder to use. It still might be useful though, since I noticed about half of the pins broke partway when I pulled them out of the old pug.

I don't know for sure these are the correct pins, but if not it looks like they've got them, in case you're smarter than me and know what the name of them is. From what I've read GM also sells them, but you have to buy very large quantities.

I think it's one of the two bottom ones, but it's a big PITA to get the wires crimped on there tight and pushed all the way in the plug. The stock wires with pins should have slid out easily if you did it like I showed you.

They did pull out easily for the most part. There's just one "loose" tab on the pins that bent back on almost all of them. Some didn't bend as badly and I was able to use needle nose pliers to bend it back, the others broke (just the tab). They all clicked back into place on the v8 plug though, so even the ones that broke are still usable.

I am going to be swapping my '92 T.B.I. 4.3 for the '98+ Vortec 5.7. How should I attack the wire harness problem? Is it better to modify the harness from the S10, or to change it out for the harness from the 5.7 donor vehicle?

Been reading off and on about V8 swaps. Yesterday at work a guy I work with has a 97 chevy 5.0 that the #5 cylinder is knocking. Engine has 230k or unknown. He said it ran good and got good mpg. He was hard on it. Kids. I bought the engine from him for $100. That comes with engine harness, ecu, exhaust, and intake plumbing. The s10 I have is a 2003 ZR2 model. Will this motor work for my truck or do I need to core this one and get a newer engine? Junk yards have 5.3s a year newer to a year older then my s10 for $400. They have 170k plus miles. I would need to rebuild it at least. I am not sure if the 5.0 is a vortec or not. He has not pulled it yet. Two weeks and I would have it. I am okay taking the extra time to also do the harness swap. I know my transmission will work. Has 127k on it. Why engine and family Gen do I need to look for?

I'm gonna ask a dumb question here. Yes I've read the threads and gone through the forums. I have a 1970's 350 small block it's carbed sitting in my garage. I rebuilt it couple years back. I am wanting to throw it into my 1992 4.3l sle Sonoma. Now I wanna swap it over to fuel injection and this is the part thats got me confused I've read I can use my existing wiring and CPU and fuel injection system I just have to get the computer refreshed but I've also read that I have to take the wiring harness and CPU and all the other fun stuff from a donor truck. If I do would I be able to take everything off a 1992 gmc 1500 with a v8 would I be able to just plug that into my rebuilt v8 and go or is there something I'm missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Does anyone know if I can use this ecu, that I found out of a 4.8 lt1 caprice.I was looking at the 411 # on it and wondered if it was the same as the 411's from express vans, that are used for the v8 vortec swaps? And if I could use it in my 95 4.3 2wd s10.along with 96 5.0 vortec harness from my 4wd Silverado? I also have a 2wd 99 blazer, could I use the blazer 2wd comp/ecu with 4wd 96 Silverado engine harness and just change out the rear 02 sensors? Please help as I'm just spinning wheels here and need some answers to this much wanted swap???????picture of ecumenical from caprice below...
