I need to remove the steering shaft so I can pull the manifold.
There's a bolt near the PS pump, that's easy, but is there one
hidden near the top somewhere? Under the boot or the dash?
What's the best plan of attack to getting access to it?

Thanks!

Well to take the lower portion off. All can be done from wheel well.
set wheels pointing straight ahead
DONT TURN WHEEL WHILE ITS OUT!
Remove the 11m bolt at the steering box
compress the shaft towards the firewall enought to slide off the box
piviot slightly and pull it till its off.

Wheels already straight, removed and steering wheel locked.
Once its out and ready to go back in, is it going to slide back
into place with relative ease? Or is that going to be a chore?

Thanks for the help!

Removing the stockers to make room for turbo manifolds...

Yeah it should go on eazy I just had mine off to do the rag joint.
To help you can wrap the seat belt round the wheel then plug it in.
Can also add some more grease to help white lithium or so

Just bought 2001 s10 with 166K. No tune-up ever done! Everything original, including the fuel filter. This info really helped me as I'm doing spark plug #3. Traditional methods were not working for many different reasons, but mainly rust. After doing this, my son and I wished we had simply started this way.
