heres what you need to get: 2 calipers for a s10 from autozone 10.00 each
2 rotors from the rear of a 98 up blazer 10.00 for the pair or you can get new ones from autozone for 45.00 each 2 weld on brackets from speedway 10.00 each for a 78-up gm.

Re: how to put disc brakes on the rear for under 200 bucks step by step

for starters get the rearend out of the truck and take the cover off

next you want to use a 8mm socket to get the bolt out that holds the cross pin in the diff

next you want to remove the drums off the rearend and push the axle in and remove the c clips be careful not to drop them into the diff they can be a little tricky to get out

after you get the c clips off you can remove the axles they just pull out

after you pull the axles you can remove the backing plate just 4 15mm bolts

then your going to want to clean up the rearend

then put the axles back in and start putting it back together put the axle gears in first

then put the c clips back in and give the axles a pull to set the c clips in place

then you want to put the cross shaft back in be carefull to line up the hole for the bolt to go in

everything is where it needs to be then so take so take the rotors and bolt the to the axles make sure to use 2 lugnuts at least

then take the caliper and bolt it to the bracket

then set it up on the axle tub where you want it

then just put a tack on it to hold it in place and measure it to make sure its the same front and rear

Re: how to put disc brakes on the rear for under 200 bucks step by step

after you get it where you want it tack it in a few spots so it dont move on you then take the caliper and the rotor back off so it is not in the way when you weld it. when you weld it remember put a good weld on it they are you brakes you dont want them to fall off.

after you get it welded 100% put everything back together

spin it make sure everything is good and not rubbing and then bolt a wheel on to see what it looks like

all in all from start to finish it shound take about 3 hours to do this from taking the rearend out to bolting a wheel on it.

if you want to spend a little more money you can get cross drilled and powder coated rotor off ebay.

i hope i helped out.

very nice how-to.
only thing i would recommend is a correctly valved proportioning valve, because now that your piston sizes are the same front to rear, the bias will be quite off
