Re: [How to] Install KAIK Grab Bar *make a sticky?*
Got mine installed. I was doing 2 things at once. Removing the airbag to paint the front piece and installing the bar. I did the following in this order:
1.) removed 2 bolts underneath that hold the bottom of the airbag assembly in.
2.) moved up top. got the drivers side airbag loose. Next, I removed the passenger side speaker grill/speaker, I used a 1/4 inch ratchet, 6 inch extension and a deepwell 10mm. I removed the nut holding the passenger side grab bar first after fishing around. Then I took my mini LED flashight and laid it up inside where the speaker would be so it'd point back. Through the hole where the grab bar bolts to, I have good eyeball of where the same extension/ratchet setup is going. snaked around for a minute, got a hold of it and removed it. airbag came right out.
4.) went in through the hole where the bag was, got the drivers side nut for the grab bar, pulled grab bar.
5.) install new grab bar, took airbag assembly to basement to begin prepping for paint.
One thing I did to make myself feel a lil better about messing with the passenger airbag, was I disconnected the battery and the yellow connection for the passenger airbag that you can access via the glovebox. Let everything sit for awhile, came back and went to work. I'll post pics once I get everything back together.
