they are holding up just fine.... no problems at all with em...

sdimenightlight.... where are you getting water in from... the hinge pockets?? i havent drove mine in the rain... but its sat out in the rain... havent noticed any leaks from there... the pockets in the jam are the same as any other style hinge...

kev2809.... yeah they should work fine for any vehicle...they are very similar to the suicidedoors hinges except the bar that connects to the door is curved instead of straight... as long as you reinforce everything you should be fine...

i havent got it out in the rain yet but its my daily driver , so im afraid the pockets will leak. i can almost garentee the pocket will take some water. oh and as for the time above. i spent 3 hrs on tues and today and i had them on the hinges opening backwards. All i have left to do is make the plates for support, and relocate the stricker. i also need of course to eliminate any water issues do to my system going in the back. I was thinking of making a box for the hinge, the way they used to make em on the early 50s f250s, what do u guys think?

for the record if your going to do this to a sec. gen consider this.. dont, the body line interferes alot, and expect to take your door off alot to make small adjustments. im not trying to say he has a bad idea or bad directions. Im just saying it will work on my sec gen, but it would be worth it to buy an actual kit. If i do get my door to work ill throw some pics on for sec gen mounting.

lol, this thread was kinda old, but since you brought it up - how are they holding up?
that seems like an alternative to buying the real hinges if they are holding up pretty good...and could they work on a 2nd generation s10?
i was the one who did the how to.. nitedragon asked me if he could post the how to, so i said yes.......

the hinges are strong as hell... havent had a problem with them yet...

no the hinges are strong as hell, no doubt, but the way there designed you cant get them far enough to the outside edge, so the door dosent swing without hitting the body line. That and the sheer fact that everything flexes so damn much. But it will work but you have to cut out the part between the inner door skin and the outter door skin where the body line is and move it in a tid bit in order to clear. its a pain royale, its possible, but a pain. a first gen is easier due to the body style.

no.... not at all... there is plenty of room for the hinges to work... on my first gen i have 1.5 gap between the door and the outside skin when the door is fully open.... the body line on a second gen does not stick out more then an inch compared to the bodyline on a firts gen. Its all a matter of where the hinge was placed apart. As far as flexing.. duh its gonna flex a long with any other suicide door hinge.. that is why u have to reinforce it...

well I just got in from finally getting out and picking up a set of hinges (4) off of an old 50's ford pick-up, cost me all of $5 cdn for the set. Now when I get the time i'll be doing mine and pretty much like this but with a few minor changes and a diffrent idea for opening the door from the inside. I'll take some pics of when I do mine as i'm doing it to my first gen ext. cab.

oh, BTW, if anyone goes out to get the wagoneer hinges, make sure to have a good torq's bit with you (forget what size) but if your going to get a set off of a GM or ford regular sockets is all you need

well I did one door last monday, and finally got time to do the second one today. In total I have about 9 hrs into both doors combined, but I still have to rig up my manual way to open the door from the inside

im definately going to do this to my blaze once I get some time off work. Been wanting suicide doors for awhile but 300-400 a kit is way to pricey. Great how to, thanks guys.

Thank you for the information! I have a few questions if anyone is still around from this post to answer them!
Well....19 year old thread...nope. Start a new thread with your questions. You can provide a link to this thread if you think it might help. Let the dead threads rest in peace.
