Hello! First time visiter, first time poster so forgive me I have no idea where to post this question. I did a preliminary search and came up with nothing so I'll take a shot in the dark, admins and mods, please move if this is not the place for this. My buddy has a '02 Chevy S10 4.3L v6 extended cab. He has this device in his cab on the floor board in the middle. Looks like an air piston or actuator of some sort. Has a hose coming out of one end and a thin cable coming out of the other.
He don't know what it is and I don't either. Anyone here know? Or have any idea where I can ask? I've attached a pic.

Eh, I wasn't trying to solve the mystery that bad. I was just hoping somebody would be able to easily identify it. It's not creating problems or anything, it's just a case of inquiring minds want to know.

Obviously a ghetto fix with what ever was available to fix something that the oem part would have done better. But hey the parts where right there and free.
You're gonna need to see where the ends go. Guessing the tube is to a vacuum like that's been hacked into and the cable likely goes to one of the HVAC controls. Or the 4wd actuator below the battery. Since it's an unprotected cable hopefully not.
