Hey everyone, im new here. Ive gotta replace the engine in my 98 s10 blazer, it has the 4.3 vortec in it now, W engine code. I was wondering what the difference in W and X engine codes are? Ive found a new motor with only 2k miles on it, im not sure what the engine code on it is...

I believe the engine codes are W and Z rather than X.

The Z motor is the 165HP version.
The W motor is the 190HP version.

You'll wanna reuse a W motor as the Z uses a completely different type of fuel injection.

There are W and X motors. The W is the high-output version of the X. TMK, the only differences are the tuning and a cam (somebody mentioned the Y-pipe recently also)

Shouldn't matter which you put in but you may want to grab the ECM for it also.
