Help with Rag Joint Replacement, Wont go all the way on the power steering pump.

So I replaced my rag joint and now it won't slip on all the way, I made sure everything was lined up, cleaned off, and even tried a small spray of wd40 to help it slip on, but it won't budge past this point

Bit of grease or anti seize on the shaft and steering box splines
Then a few light hits with a rubber hammer where the rag joint is. If you dont have a rubber hammer you can use a normal hammer with a piece of wood in between the shaft and hammer to avoid damagingthe shaft. .

You of course need to remove the rag joint to do any thing first. Reinstall it once the shaft is on the power steering box down snug.

I got the new Rag Joint already installed onto the steering shaft just having trouble getting it to go back onto the steering box, ill try some anti seize and a few wacks.
Dont forget you got to take the bolt out to install.

I agree, make sure you aren't trying to install it with the bolt in there already. I just did this to my truck, only I replaced mine with a Holley shaft. It should just slide right on fairly easy.
I'm not sure what year your truck is, but my 2003 does not have that nub on the end of the splined shaft on the steering gear box. Could that be interfering with installation?

Mine was an absolute PITA as well. I ended up slipping a large pry bar through the wheel well onto the top edge of the rag joint fitting and then hammering down on the pry bar. I assumed I would never be getting it off again...

That is a good point, I did have to tap mine into place with a rubber mallet. I didn't have one at the time, but a dead blow hammer would work better.
