I have an 84 blazer 4x4 with a 2.8 and a 4 speed. the engine has 184,xxx on it. it runs strong but there is a light knock in the top half. I'm thinking lifters or rockers but i have no idea. and also why is this damn thing a 4 speed, i never heard of a 4 speed s-10 blazer??

probably rockers, try tightening all the rockers 1/4 turn. or, if you're hardcore about it, pull the intake mani and retorque them to factory specs. i believe its no slack, then 1 1/4 turns further. sounds tight, but it works great. check a chiltons first. if it's lifters, replace the cam at the same time if you have the cash.

It's a auto tranny correct? Chevy used a 4 sp Auto and a 5 sp Manual.

If you don't have one, I'd get a Chilton's or Haynes. It will give you specs on what to torque almost every single bolt to as well.

They made them

The Borg Warner T4 (4 speed) is almost the same as the T5 (5 speed) and some of them were used in the early years...:werd:
