This is my first project car/truck and i need help with choosing the right wheel specs that help the truck sit right and look clean and simple. The truck is sitting on a 3/4 drop and im wondering if 18x9.5 +35mm rims would sit right and fit right in. But the bolt pattern is 5x4.5, would these fit fine or would it not be recommended to do so?

+35mm means the center of the wheel is moved inward 1-3/8" which would look funny and might rub, but since you are going to need adapters to fit them on a 5 x 4.75 S10, get 1-1/2 adapters and you should be good.
Or you could use the $200 plus what you're paying for the Ford wheels and get some that fit right.

Welcome to the forum. The OEM specs for a 1998 S10 (2WD) are 15x7 w/ a 5 - 120.7mm (4.75") pattern, so the 5 - 4.5" won't work unless you add adapters.

Is it safe to run adapters whenever i’m doing sharp turns or going more than 120mph?

1998 S10 ext. cab - more than 120 MPH - what drive train is in the truck (OEM speedo only goes to 100)? Is the truck 2 or 4WD? And I hope that is not a speed considered for on highway use!

As you can probably tell...street racing is not universally accepted here. Not to say it doesn't happen. I think I'd want to be going that fast and have the welds break though..

Well, that likely rules out the stock 2.2.

Adapters are safe for most applications. If you're building a truck for racing then you don't want any compromises, so get wheels made for the truck.
I'd also suggest:
SFI 4.1 Transmission Shield
Locking transmission dipstick tube
SFI Flexplate
Aftermarket axles and axle retainers
SFI Harmonic Balancer
6 point roll bar
SFI approved seat belts
SFI jacket & pants 3.2A/5
SFI neck collar & gloves 3.3/1
Full Face Helmet meeting SFI specifications
A rabbit's foot in your pocket
A crucifix around your neck

And a drogue chute (a.k.a. the supplementary air brake)!

Also not intending to judge, bcuz There are some guys that can drive the wheels off a car but can’t change the oil to save their lives-but-based on your goal, and the entry level question, look at rhotpursuits truck, lilbowtie or white bowtie, and black x build threads. Sounds like u want something in between the red ss (Rhotpursuit) and the white gmc. (Bow tie something, can’t remember) And you’ll see how much effort it will take to get to what u want.
Also there’s a bunch of wheel threads on here too.

Its just a start only rebuilding the trans for 500hp just to get it out the way and so i can be comfortable knowing it won’t break easily for daily driving. Thank you for your recommendations will definitely keep this in mind whenever it’s time to take things to the next level

Most likely going to run ZQ8s for the street while I look into Weld racing wheels, i’m building the truck to be a reliable, good looking, exceptionally fast truck for whats around here. Like car/truck meets, track meets, or just cruising with friends. Will definitely look into those trucks you talked about for more ideas though, thank you for your recommendations
