I've read other post about similar issues. When I turn the selector, it does switch between dash, floor, and defrost correctly like it should. The problem is when its blowing through the defrost and floor its nice and warm, but when I have the selector on the dash vents it has a burst of warm air, then blows cool air. What should i be looking at first? could it be the selector switch?

I wonder if it's designed to do that so you don't have hot air blowing in your face. When it's sent up or down it cools some before reaching you.
Although looking at the wiring diagrams I don't see any provision for a change in the temperature actuator when the ducts are switched to vent. That's all done by vacuum. That switch does activate the A/C for defrosting, but the blend door doesn't move. Or I don't see a wire to it.
Next time I drive my 02 CC I'll try it.

Let me know how that works. When I drove the truck home later that day, it blew hot air out of the vents. Its strange
