I've seen some headers on my local craigslist and wondering if 1" primary tubes is still small? Thoughts on this?

IIRC, the exhaust ports on the 2.8 are pretty small. I don't remember exactly how small but 1 inch may be close. I have a set of header flanges at the shop. I'll check the size at lunch time.

That seems just a little small to me. Wait for Max to get back to you.

I do want to point out, a 1.5" tube is more than double the volume of a 1" tube. It may not seem like a big jump, but that is the math of volumes. So, figure it up rather than just think it is okay.

I did one step better.
I had an old set of rotted out Headmens that I cut the exhaust port flange off of. I checked it at lunch, the ports are 1.25"
(1 1/4").
Kricket is right. 1" does sound small.

Reece, you sure it was 1 inch? I have installed several sets on various 2.8/3.4s, I don't remember seeing any that small. I remember all of them being the same size tube as the actual exhaust port. Maybe the seller is mistaken(?)
How much are they?

That intake is modified. Someone machined the lower part of the intake to accept a Rochester spread bore like that. A regular Rochester quad would drown a 2.8...
You would have to run one of those Holley Economaster 450 CFM carbs to make stuff work.

The headers look like standard issue early 2.8 S10, but the AIR fittings are a little concerning. Last set I bought with the fittings, the bosses blocked a large area in the tube opening.
I ended having the bosses cut out and the openings welded shut.

If this is $100 for everything, I'd split the cost ($50) and pay you to ship the intake to me.
The headers will work much better than the stock iron manis..

so the early S10's came with headers? wow news to me.
So are they likely to be 1" inch then? would i be better off buy an aftermarket set?

Max pm me about the intake.

I'd bet $$ that those headers are Edelbrocks.

hehehe...

When one of the members here posted about the short supply that Edelbrock had found of the ceramic coated 4x4 sets, I bought 2!

The early S10s came with iron manis. The set of headers in the CL pic look like they are early examples from Edelbrock. They changed the design over the years.

I haven't seen them myself, i asked the guy how big they are. i'm guessing he measured the ID at the flange. There $100 with some other parts, i might pick them up.

Not sure on the chevy orange LOL...but i haven't seen headers with a thermac stove part.
Homemade??
Reece, I took a closer look at the intake. It's a stock unit that someone opened the plenum and bolted a spreadbore to squarebore adapter plate. Pretty ingenious, although a Rochester spread carb would drown a 2.8.
You would have to run the Holley 450 CFM Economiser (spreadbore)carb to make that work on a 2.8/3.4.
I thought I PMd you but I think I sent it to Damanx by accident. I gotta quit drinking beer...:p

Those headers are definitely Edelbrock. Just like the ones on my truck without the O2 bung. That intake is weird! How?

I'd pay $100 for that. I paid more than that for the headers on my truck NOS.
