Well I am tired of damn exhaust leaks. So I thought I'd try something new. I was looking thru a magazine a while ago, and I remeber seeing these studs that had a little C clip go on the end. They replaced the stock bolts. With these I wouldnt have to worry about torqueing bolts down anymore. The slogan for them was something about header bolts not coming loose or sumthing.

Also where can I order a set of the copper exhaust manifold gaskets that everyone talks about?

I think Stage 8 is the company who makes the c-clip header
bolts as well as copper gaskets. Sanderson Headers also
carries copper header gaskets for the 4.3. they're not cheap
though, around 60.00 bucks, but are considered some of the
best. Summit has the lock bolts, and I think you could order from
Sanderson directly, I'm not sure. Ya ought to ck out

Just ordered the bolts now I just gotta find a place to get the copper gaskets from. I checked jegs and summit. All summit has are MR. Gasket ones for ricers, and jegs has them for rice and v-8's.

I got Mr.Gasket Ultra Seals at Autozone. Had to order em
but came in around 4 days. I used to have the part num
for Mr.G's copper, but can't find it.

I know SCE makes copper gaskets. I also know those made
by Sanderson are well made, but expensive.

Well I don't know about em now. I just read a post by Muddy s10
over at the exhaust forum saying he put these SCE gaskets on
and they leaked all over the place..Maybe ya ought to get
ahold of him. Seems like he's had issues with the headers
leaking and finally came up with a cure..Man I'm SOOO glad
mine aren't leaking. It'd drive me nuts.

I also had a set of the SCE copper gaskets which I ordered from summit along with the stage 8 locking bolts. The bolts work fine, but the clips are a PITA to get locked in. The gaskets on the other hand just plain SUCK!!! After the install I fired up the truck and every port had multiple leaks. Summit gave me a refund on the gaskets. The best gaskets that I have found are the Felpro gaskets for stock exhaust manifolds. They are individual for each port, seal great, and only cost $11.00 at O'Rieleys (something like that) autoparts.

the SCE's.

I really would like to settle this exhaust leak sistuation once and forall. Does any1 have a part # for Mr. Gasket Copper gaskets?

I at one time posted the prt num for copper gaskets and I
could of swore they were for the 4.3's. I know I posted the
num for the Ultra Seals, but once again it was a long time ago.

I found this. Hope it helps. By the way, are you putting a small
bead of copper silicone all around each port on the gasket, both
to the gasket to head and gasket to header flange ? I put a
small thin bead around each both to the head /gasket and
header/gasket. It has never leaked. I read over at a hotrod
forum that's how the 305 and 350's are done..The copper
silicone is made by Peremtex and works killer. Infact that's
all I have on the y-pipe to header collector flange. A med bead
or silicone and 3/8" x 2.50" grd 8 allen bolts and and grd 8
flange nuts. The whole thing has stayed leak free. The Ultra
Seal gaskets along with the silicone really worked out well
for me..Just wondered if you had tried a sealer. Anyway, hope
it links.

Update. I did write the num down but had to dump it.
There are copper exhaust gaskets made by Mr.G. They're also
made for the 4.3 up. Problem is they're for the 8 cyl engines.
They don't make a copper for the 4.3 in the 6cyl configuration.
I knew I seen it before, but doesn't fit our engines. If
interested the Ulta Seals are prt num 5958. It's in the link
below, as well as a full listing of Mr.Gasket's seals and gaskets.

Course if ya just HAVE to have true copper gaskets, there's
always Sanderson. I think they go for around 60.00. If you've
never heard of Sanderson Header before, just ask the ole
hot rodders about em. Sanderson is considered one of the
best when it comes to custom exhaust..I'm done now, good luck
with the project.
