I could be wrong here but I was wondering if I'm able to manifold swap from my spider fuel injection to maybe a fuel rail type from a newer model 4.3L. I've got a 97' GMC Jimmy 2dr and I would just love to squeeze some more power and fuel economy out of it.

When you say "newer model 4.3L" do you mean the 2012+ LV3 Eco Tec 4.3?
That engine was a clean sheet design and shares nothing with the LU3 or other earlier 4.3's.
The fact that it is the same 4.3L displacement was just a coincidence. It's a coil on plug ignition system and direct injection fuel system. It also makes about 50% more power.
There was a marine 4.3 intake with fuel rails for the S10 era engine, but they're rare, expensive, and far from a bolt on installation.

If it has a good many miles on it, you can replace the OEM junk pintle injectors with an upgrade, usually less than $200 on sleazebay. If the old ones are worn and clogged as most are, it'll wake it right up. 3.42 gears are ideal for the ratios of the 4L60E, chances are that's what you already have.

Power AND Economy - 5.3L swap. Problem is it'll cost more than the truck and a few years of fuel.

I meant the last version of the TRUE 4.3, because I heard that they had fuel rails and individual injectors.

Yeah I’m thinking of some new injectors if I can’t do anything about the intake, and I would do a 5.3 LS swap but I’ve heard it’s a pain in the *** to swap it in and I live in California so I have to deal with a bunch of smog.
