This 1994 S10 Extended cab LS 4WD has the 4.3L V6 Vortec engine. It started service as my mom's second car. She used it for trips to the farmers market and because she liked the idea of a small truck as a second vehicle. It had a good life with maintenance per schedule at the local dealer, light use, and was kept parked in a carport in eastern WA. After my mom passed, I bought it from the estate and it became my daughter's first car, then later my son's first car. All was well until he slid it off the road on an icy day and banged up many of the body panels. The truck has received very little use since, other than an occasional trip to the landscape materials yard. I don't have the time or means to fix it, so I want to sell.

The good: Starts easy, runs well, most everything works, 132,700 miles, clear title, good tires, new battery.
The bad: Electronic 2WD/4WD switch stopped working (happened once before), AC no longer cools.
The ugly: Multiple dented and dinged body panels. Driver's side extended cab panel has worst damage. Some panels are fine. See pictures below:

It runs and is drivable so I figure that it must be worth >$500, but the driver's side extended cab panel must be fixed at a minimum for it to be useful. What should I ask for this S10 as either a fix up project or a parts donor? Thanks.

I bet you could get $1500 here in ME based on that most WA state stuff is rust free. Al that stuff fixed, it might get $5-6k as a nice driver. If the interior is not filthy or ratty.

Hate to think what it'd cost to ship it the full 3000 miles.
$1500 delivered would be getting nothing for the truck if you could find some one to do it for that. At 10 mpg fuel would be $1500.
It's a 4 day drive, minimum.

Yup, that's what we face now. Just commenting on value, with the out of control prices for even any basic driver truck these days, I'd think that even locally that truck is well worth putting back together. If I lived there, and the truck is what he describes, and it only needs what it appears to, and it was what I wanted, I'd consider it at 15. That's a comment for r7s - he might find someone like me out there. Certainly they are having the same problem with the prices of good used trucks that the rest of us are. And yeah, shipping or moving it doesn't work any more.

I've done it, I have an '82 and an '85 from OR, my '96 is from NC, Someone else brought the Jimmy I have out from San Diego. All that happened long enough ago that it was a much smaller threshold. I remember $3-400 apiece way back, from OR; the last one was $600, and worth it because the condition was far better than an additional $600 would have gotten me here. Transport's got to be unbelieveable now, no longer justifiable.

(sorry, meant to add...) I can think of only one pleasure greater, in my life, than sliding under a truck and seeing zero rust, original paint on the differential and shackles, etc. I'm not made of money, but I sure would pay extra for that. If that truck that r7s has is like that, that could sell that truck to me.

I'm in the salt belt also. It is nice to occasionally come across a southern or western truck that you don't have to cut or weld something to on every bolt to get them off. I see a lot of pretty trucks from those states. Don't even worry about looks on mine. If you spend all the time and money to make one decent, it's crap in a couple years again. I just drive them till they drop, then take the engine and stick in the next one.

1. Nothing wrong with it....keep it....she's a gem.
2. Plus always good to have backup vehicle(s) on hand.
3. Lastly, that's one you can park anywhere in the parking lot and not have a care in the world about it getting dinged.

Keep liability insurance on it and keep it. I mean, it looks bad, but it starts and drives. To me, It is worth more as an extra vehicle than it would be to sell it. If I was to make an offer. $750 would be my max if the driveline was in good shape and the front end was tight. If the body wasn't beat, $3500 around here.

I'm like a month late. Since it has been in the family since new and the fact it was your daughter's and son's first car, I would 100% keep it. Maybe it can be you grandkids first car to. 😉
