My fiancee and I are going to Las Vegas in a month. Not being much of a gambler, I am looking for some ideas on things to do. I do plan on gambling a little, but I don't plan on spending much on it.

Just lookin for some ideas from those who have visited or lived there.

See how many of the cards you can collect while walking the strip. If that doesn't make sense now, it will once you get there. Some of the hotels have small rollercoasters that are fun. It's also cool to go outside of town and do some hiking in the mountains/canyons.

Where are you staying?

Driving there or flying?

If Flying, are you gonna have a rental?

Then a lot depends on how much money you are willing to spend.

Every big casino has free attractions, just depends on what you like to do. The Belagio fountions, the Siren show at TI(Treasure Island), talking statues at the furom Shops at Ceasers, Circus acts at Circus Circus, the huge Freemont Street Experience light show, etc.............

Then there's the rides. A few rollercoasts, and the crap on the Strasphere. Sad thing is most suck if you ever ridden rides at real amusement parks and they charge like $8 per ride.

There are shows ranging form free afternoon shows to $100 per ticket shows. And suprisingly, the free shows are just as good as the pricey shows. And there's lots of ways to get cheap or free tickets to the expensive shows. There's all kinds of shows, stand up comics, magic shows, showgirl revues, plays, that Circul So Gay crap, etc.................

There's Hoover Dam. And a lot of tour companies that have all kinds of tours. Dam tours, dessert tours, Crand Canyon, white water rafting, Humvee offroad tours, horseback riding, helicopter tours, etc..................

Then there's the night clubs if your one of those types, meh.

The night clubs are expensive (30 buck cover at Pure in Cesars Palace) and the food is somewhat ok depending on where you go.
We went last year and my girl got food poisoning the first night.
Also if you are going to be using cabs, be ready to pay about 20 bucks where ever you go.
And stock up on bottled water, cuz its expensive, but you can get it free if you play slots and wait for the waitress to come by.
Stay at the Imperial Palace if you are looking for a good, cheap hotel, its in the dead center of the new strip and every big casino is within walking distance.

Used to live there. It was hot. That's all I remember.

Listen to 96Blazer though he pretty much covered all the touristy type things to do. IMO the needle on the top of the stratosphere is a cool ride, but the roller coaster isn't any more thrilling than a carousel. And don't ride the strip bus.

Check out some of the comedy shows there.. New York New York puts on a pretty decent one and its relatively cheap. ($25, if I remember correctly)... BTW, you can always visit Spearmint Rhino... My gf had a great time there lol..One of the dancers handed her top to my gf to hold while she gave some guy a topless lap dance.

You defanalty dont have to gamble to have a good time if your not really into it. Sit at the penny slots and get all the free drinks you could ever want. Do all your drinking in the casino, unless you want to spend $6 a beer in a club. The clubs kick ass, but like stated above, are rather expensive unless you run across the free passes or $ off cards.
Mandalay Bay has an awsome aquarium, very neat.
There are always big shows and stuff going on that are well worth checking out.
Collecting the "baseball cards" like jt82501 said is pretty funny.
All of the pools are awsome!
Its like a world of its own, and there is so much to do.

We are stayin at the Stratosphere. We are flying out there, and we aren't getting a rental. We figured we would have everything we need right there on the strip, even though we are at the end of it. But we've looked at taking a bus tour one day to Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. And I've been trying to find tickets online for comedy shows, but I only found a few on Ticketmaster. Any specific names on comedy venues?

And about Dejavu, she wouldnt want to do that, even though I wouldnt mind if she did. :haha:

Ohhh man. Hate to break it to you, but the Stratosphere is not just at the end of "The Strip", it's past the main walkable area of it. It's actually in the shilt ghetto area. You really should not walk around outside of that area at night.

As for tickets online, I think you're gonna have a much better chance getting better prices using the coupon books. They're everywhere, at the gas stations, airport, hotel lobbys. There's about 4 different booklets with visitors coupons. 2 for 1's, free shows, 1/2 half, etc......There's a few comedy shows that are free with a $6 drink purchase. If I remember correctly, the Stratosphere has one. Last time waas there, they had coupon for a buffet, 3ft high type tower drink cup, and comedy show tickets for $20

A good show is over at the Tropicana. It's the Follies Bergere show. It is a topless showgirl/comedy revue, so there's usually a number of good showgirl musical numbers, one or two different comic acts and a magic guy. The shows rotate performers. Tickets are about $70, but down in the casino area, they have a special slot section where you pay $20 (IIRC) and you get $50 credit on the selected machines. You are garrenteed to win, if you don't hit a cash jackpot on the machine, you get to pick from a selection of gift prizes, and among those gift prizes they have show tickets. Usually one for the Follies or two for the comedy store they have.

The Riveria also had a similiar deal, they got a good show called Splash.

But all in all, go to each casinos website and look at what shows they currently have, it changes often. And be warned, asome of the shows, especially in the older casinos, are lounge-style seating, which means half the seats are bad veiwing. so for any of those shows, get the tickets early and ask if you can get a good seat.:haha:

As someone mentioned, Mandalay Bay has a cool Aquarium exhibit. It's pricey, but there's usually 2 for 1 coupon in the visitors books.

well, even though that was an error, there actually is a dessert tour.:haha:
I believe they take you to the Ethel Chocolate factory, then the M&M store/museum, and one other place.
