i have a 97 sonoma sls 2 wd 4.3L i was looking for what size gears to put in it and it is used as a daily driver. and where can i get them at.

depends on what rearend you have...

ratio 3.73 or 3.42 is perfect for the 4.3.. but you can have an 8" or a 7 5/8 rear... look up your codes in the glove box for what ratio you have.. and if you have a g80 you have a 8"

It should have came factory with 3.42s. If you want some improvement without eating up too much of your gas mileage then I would go with 3.73s, which is what most extremes come stock with.

The rearend you have is either a 7 5/8" or an 8.5" 10 bolt. If you have an automatic, you have the 7 5/8" rearend, probably with 3.42's. If you have a 5spd 4.3, chances are you still have the 7 5/8" rear, not sure when they started putting 8.5" rearend's in the 4.3 5spd trucks, it could have been 1998. 3.73's would be a good upgrade for the automatic, I wouldn't go anything more than 3.42's with the 5spd though, especially if it's a daily driver.
