hello all i have a 1987 V6 2.8 all stock with all the smog. I would like to install a set of after market gauges but not sure where i can install the sensors with out affecting the smog and in california i need the smog. Can anyone help me on this.

The gauges won't affect your smog...Put the gauges where you can access the sensors.

Is the water sensor on the V6 just for the idiot light?

You'll have to use sensors that are for the aftermarket gauge you want to use.

I was just worried if i disconnect the factory and replace water and oil sensor with new wires to the new gauge leaving factory wires disconnected that it would trigger a check engine lite or affect the computer.

Most gauge sensor locations can be moved or tapped into.
