hey guys just looking to see if anyone has ever had there factory cluster reset itself while its on,,,did not turn off but trip reset

there may be a procedure for it

try holding down odometer stem or button until it does something like blinks or something?

with key in ACC position

or in run position

the OM should say something about it somewhere in there.,

or do a google research about it

on the chrysler vehicles such as the mini vans this is how you conduct the guages self test sequence

not sure if GM did this or not ever

when mine did this, it also lost power to the whole cluster for a second. It was traced to aq faulty ignition switch.

I wonder if thats what my cluster in my 98 did? I was driving home one day and all the gauges went to max then came back down to zero then went back where they should be, sort of like it does when I start the truck. I think some lights came on in the cluster too, might have been all of them, I can't remember because it freaked me out.

My truck is lowered 3/4 and needs some TLC on the suspension so I figured the hard bottoming out and vibrations shook something loose.
