I installed a Flexalite electric fan on my 95 gmc jimmy 4x4 with 4.3 Vortec. I did notice a slight gain in power both low and high end. The low end torque was great, and high end is a little better, snappier shifts.
Now these gains are not backed up with any dyno results.
But, I did see an instantaneous gain in fuel economy. I traveled back to school all highway, the same way I came, over 150 miles, and gained 1.9 MPG. I was getting 15, I then got 16.9 on the way home. I also saw a gain in mileage in the city.
Cons: This fan draws alot of amperage. It takes a bite out of the alternator when the stereo is on and the heater fan is on also.
BEST PART ABOUT THE FAN: FASTER WARM UP TIME!!!!! GREAT FOR OHIO WINTERS!
Overall one of the best gains in power for the $$ If for nothing but keeping my arse warm in the winter.
