 my 2.2 automatic makes a whistling noise under acceleration. I don't have a tach(dammit) but it seems to be at around 1000-2200 rpm, sometimes higher. I have a K&N drop-in filter, could that be it? or is somthing loose? My dad's '01 Silverado does the same thing. It's really annoying.

I know my friend's (HAHAHAHAHA----------->) Civic (<-----------HAHAHAHAHA) did that when he put in a piece of crap intake from autozone, but have you checked to make sure that there are no air leaks around the filter??? Also, have you tried listening to it from outside the car (like with the hood up) and have someone hit the gas. I would think that would help you find it, and are you sure that it is outside, because a stereo could make that noise too. (Which would be a whole different issue) Did it just start when you put the filter in, and if it did, I agree, I would try swapping the K&N back out, although I never had any probs when I had my K&N in my stock intake.
