Just had a fuel pump go out on me for the second time in two weeks. This is the third time I have lost one, the first time would be sometime back in late 2019.

I can't say how many miles I had on that older one, but this new one I just replaced has a bit over 800 miles. I replaced it in the middle of a road trip.

Been driving fine since I replaced it, no signs of anything wrong. I am thinking it has to be something electrical causing my issues. Maybe a short or something.

Advice is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hi Resistance from corroded ground and or fuel path restrictions likely causes of electric fuel pump early demise, other than junk new parts........

Just finished installing another Autozone pump (Delphi brand). Will just have to see how long it will last me. Inside the tank is pristine, so I can't blame that. The wire harness inside the tank may have been a bit loose from before.
Back up and running for now at least.

Thanks all

Just to be clear...you installed a Delphi pump that you bought at Autozone.

These days, it's like, "Which factory in China made it?"
I feel there's a big difference between an aftermarket designed and built product, and a brand name...such as Delphi product that is built to their original/oem supllied specs. Everyone complains about Chinese parts, but are too cheap to spend the extra on Made in America....which isn't a guarantee either.

I have a relative who's worked with Chinese manufacturing, and his take is that the Chinese are perfectly capable of making a quality product -- if you pay them enough. Their attitude is that they'll make inexpensive crap for you if that's what it seems like you want.

Compliance with, and adherence, to the OEM specs (or any other for that matter) can affect a part's quality/ durability/ longevity, wherever it's made (domestic or overseas). The manufacturer's QC plays a big role in that regard. A small 'variation', 'interpretation', or 'alteration' of the specs, can have varying degrees of outcomes, rarely (if ever) resulting in a benefit. That's a distinct possibility for OEM or aftermarket products. And, I've come across parts that were OEM (GM & others), but had inherent design weaknesses, and/ or degraded quality due to "value engineering" for cost savings of production.

Autozone both times because I needed it ASAP. Like Pete said, could just be a crap part.
This isn't unique. Most all of these parts come from red China now. They are junk and substandard, but there a varying levels of substandard junk. Autozone's suppliers seem to have the worst junk of all. A friend of mine and I were discussing all the part failures coming from "the zone". I seem to have better luck with the ones from Advance (better substandard junk).

That doesn't describe me. It's gotta be an insane price gap before I won't buy a USA reman or new part. If it's available, it's worth the extra scratch. Plus it helps the country and local economy. Even on my foreign Toyotas, I buy factory parts because I know (generally) that they're way better. Like the clutch on the 08 Scion xB. I ponied up for the factory units rather than take a chance on some cheap aftermarket one. Was an extra hundred and change. The factory one lasted 216k. Lets go with that again! Why gamble with a repair like that? There would be no savings if it fails for sure getting an aftermarket part that fails or doesn't last like the factory one.

On the S-10? Ever buy an aftermarket heater core? Holy Toledo! They'll sell you something that doesn't have a chance in hell of fitting. 1/4' too thick....too long, bent incorrectly. I ALWAYS go OEM on that. Struggling with that garbage is not worth it!
