Front Bump Stop Dimensions for 2000 S10 Xtreme?

My stock 2000 S10 Xtreme needs bump stops on the front and I have some Energy Suspension 9.9101G bump stops laying around but... the originals are worn down so far I cannot tell how tall they were. Does anybody know? I cant find stock bump stop dimensions listed anywhere...

They're about yay big...
oh wow. thanks. mine are gone gone then.
those are stock and your ride height is stock? does it darn near ride on them?

i think the only symptom i have with nothing left of the bump stop is, and its a dangerous one, is that at highway speeds and coming around a bend if theres a seam in the pavement... or a hole or other bump ... the truck can jerk pretty hard. i let off the gas majorly even for a slight bend because it is so easy to spin out even without that extra jerk-jolt. it also probably put the nail in the coffin for my old shocks and is probably going to lead to premature death on the current ones too.
Yeah, I believe that is a pic of a stock zq8 suspenion on justanSS's truck. On zq8 trucks they are sort of integral to the suspension. I don't think they're the cause of your issue though. That sounds like bad shocks and/or other worn suspension and steering components.
i guess the 9.9101g's should go in as-is no trimming then? i suppose its only one bolt if they need trimmed later...
i cant find 'stock' dimensions after extensive looking.
new shocks (cheapest delcos) reduced the symptom from unsafe to manageable. i am just throwing known bad parts in as i go along.
15956547 is the AC Delco part number for the ZQ8 front bump stops. I found them at Rockauto in 2020. I prior to them I tried the Dorman equivalent but they didn't last too long. Like Mostizzle said they are an integral part of the suspension. The rears are also unique to the ZQ8 trucks, but I haven't been able to find any.

My front stops are pretty ragged after 26 years. No worry about the rears since the stops and brackets have been cut off for 24-25 years... 😂 .

get those done asap if you have unobtainium bilstein shocks. the $14 delcos work fine but the fun factor is severely diminished

It hasn't been an issue so far.
nothin fancy just 2 easy bolts and a $10 part to protect about $500+ in hard to find parts and prevent potential frame damage...

(y) My rear rear bump stops rotted off probably 5+ years ago. I managed to save what was left of one for dimensions. I'm thinking of trying some from a full size gm at LKQ since they are similar in length and density. I'm also only ZQ8+ 1" drop with the rear setup, so not as low as your truck is.

I'm at 2/3. I've never bottomed out...front or rear. Not sure how a $10 part will prevent $500 in damage to hard to find parts. Not even sure what those hard to find parts are.
Exactly. The whole cast of Mike and Molly(along with my self and groceries for the gang) could sit in/on my truck and it wouldn't touch the bump stops. The front end would just sit on the ground and the pumpkin would be touching the bed floor.

The energy ones you posted will be much much harder than regular factory or the zq8 ones which are even softer.

It does sound like I'm telling you how to get rear bump stops, but really I was just generally stating a possible solution for replacing the rear ZQ8 stops for anyone. I don't think bump stops would be beneficial for you with your setup. You're 2/3 lower than stock ZQ8, where I'm just 1/2" front and 1" rear, so my truck could possibly benefit from stock parts.

I don't think the rears contact often, but I did haul 1,200 - 1,400 lbs. a couple times in my bed the first few years I owned my truck and it was riding near/on the rear bump stops those times. It wasn't too smart on my part to load that much (I believe 800 is the factory limit) but I know better than to risk it now. So just ask Mike and the gang to hop on a scale before you guys party!

Not at all...this was just for comparison. I don't carry heavy loads.

zq8 shock & spring are hard to find
potential frame damage: maybe not so much on an s10, but i have seen fwd gm's especially develop 'frame damage' in the rear torque boxes from overtravelling suspension. i put it in quotes because those torque boxes are basically just brackets where the rear trailing arm bolts up but they are a pain to fix because gm wont sell replacement parts or fix them. you are basically at the mercy of a hungry welder who is actually willing to do you a favor. most welders around the rust belt wont touch frame damage due to liability...
finally got the energy 9.9101g polyurethanes installed, no trimming needed.
it feels quite a bit less erratically bouncy and jerky at higher speeds and over bumps
less of a need for total deathgrip on the wheel.

only problem i ran into is the old ones broke on the way out... on one side the stud twisted in half and the bumpstop popped right out, no problem. the other side, the stud broke at the tackweld and the stud is now stuck in the arm. of course laying on my back, the drill bit started walking and its a mess now... both arms have a 2nd hole pre-drilled very close to the factory bump stop hole... i used the 2nd hole for now. seems it will be fine for a few days.
i think i will need to dremel off the top part of the stud. maybe you can get vice grips on the top but mine is too thin. too thin for vice grips, too thick to just brute force yank it out.. gotta love it. its tight in there due to the shape of the arm.

well a couple days turned into a couple months...
the way to get a broken bumpstop stud out of the lower arm is via the wheel well...
you can change the bumpstops with the wheels on but if it breaks and leaves the stud behind the best/fastest access is through the wheel well

the bumpstop was fine in the second hole, but you can feel some minor uneven-ness in the response.

to anyone riding without that lower bumpstop: replace it asap. it did my 20yr old suspension a lot of good... especially driving over bumps. the steering wheel would dart all over without a deathgrip... now i can relax while driving it again
