Putting a late 70’s early 80’s 350 in a 90 model 5 speed s10. I bought a two piece rear main flywheel, and I’m curious if my stock clutch and pressure plate will fit this or not? Just sitting the disk and pressure plate on the flywheel looks like it has a 1/4” gap before it’s flush with the flywheel. Really prefer to use my clutch if possible

If you are just setting the pressure plate on top of the disc there will be a gap because the pressure plate is engaged until the throw out bearing applies the pressure needed to release it. Be sure to put a disc alignment tool or old input shaft into the disc before tightening it or you'll not be able to install the trans. Also make sure the pilot bearing or bushing is good and in place.
Curious why you chose to go with a low HP smog motor. 96 up 350's are much better engines.

Had the engine on hand and it was bare bones already been in a El Camino drag truck. 30 over, comp 268H extreme energy cam, 1990 TBI heads, balanced internals top to bottom with forged rods and pistons, 4 bolt main. Not a huge fan of 96 up engine. I have a 97 5.7 out back collecting dust dirt and rain. Also just a 2 bolt engine

1990 TBI heads? Seriously? Hopefully not the 882 heads with the giant 76cc chambers and 8.2-1 compression ratio.
193's will get you to around 9-1 but they still have that swirl design intake port that hits a wall at 4500 rpms.

Yep. Never had a problem out of TBI heads flowing. Everyone has their own preference, and I prefer TBI heads. My father in law has been building small block chevys, fords, big blocks etc for over 40 years. He says these heads will work just fine for me as well.👍🏻

Ya, powertrains from that era are laughable. '94 Silverado bought 7 yrs ago has TBI 350 rated @210hp 300ftlb. Tach has 4500 redline. Which is where 4L60e shifts @ WOT. Thoughts to mod it for more power then were put aside after few months use . Has 150k now , still a truly rust free CenTex vehicle that has all systems still working. It's ECU map provides enjoyable driving as is.

As previously , the 350 TBI Pkg in 94 silverado works well. Good low torque. Admittedly ancient tech , the heads flow about 1/2 of worst LS (250 cfm) Hence 4500rpm tach redline.

I’m still using my preferred TBI heads and enjoying the way I set this engine up and built it 🤷🏻‍♂️ Just wanted some help concerning flywheel and clutch😂😂 not a bunch of butthurt because I didn’t build an engine with the same heads you all preferred. Everyone has an opinion, just like everyone has an a**hole🤌🏻🤌🏻

Why does it always end up like this? If the OP had been a bit more descriptive on engine specs, comments probably would have been in a positive light. On the other hand, if he already had the engine, why does anyone else care? It's not like his mind is going to be changed. As for the OP...you could have left it at "help concerning flywheel and clutch".

Flywheel and clutch solutions anyone??

I left it at it’s a 70’s-80’s 350 and concern with my flywheel and they had to get technical about why I chose this engine and blah blah. I just wanted help concerning the clutch 🤷🏻‍♂️ You can’t please everyone unless you do it they way they do it. It’s not right unless it’s everyone else’s way!

You're missing my point. Almost daily there are people ask about XYZ without providing details. It helps to have as much info as possible for members to make an informed decision. Had that info been provided, chances are really good that this wouldn't have spiraled into the dirt. It would also help if responses were directed at the problem and let the rest go.

Now...can we get back to the original question...

I answered his friggin question and then as a foot note asked why he was building a boat anchor.
I can't help it if he chose to only respond to the part that hurt his feelings. It was simply a question. He took it off course.

And he told you why, but you had to double down instead of letting it go.
