The ignition switch in my 2003 has been getting progressively worse. First I just had to jiggle the key a bit to get it started, now I have to jiggle it a lot both when started and when removing the key.

Is there a fix for this, or does it require a new ignition switch?

If a new switch, any tips on where to get it?

There is a fix, the ign. cylinder has to be removed and a little bar pried off.

I did this on my 2002 following a YouTube, a 2003 is probably the same?.

Then almost any similar GM key will work so it's not very secure.

A new cyl could be installed once the old one is removed.

A new ign.cylinder will have a different key

Thanks
Randy

More often than not, the cause is a worn key, or a copy of a worn key. I had several keys cut for our work trucks at the local dealer. Only one of them still required the wiggle jiggle to start it. Go to a dealer or locksmith that will cut it from the code.

Do the 2nd gen ignitions get like the 1st gen where you don't need a key ? I for one love that, my truck is WAY too rusty to be stolen LOL. Almost every chevy I have owned you didn't need a key, its like a chevy thing I think lol.
