I have a 94 S15 Jimmy 4.3L CPI.
My Jimmy failed inspection because the shift indicator does not move. The shift is on the column and when I shift the red indicator stays on "P" . How do I fix it ? Thanks Bill
Is that little wire with the clip that comes out of the bottom of your cluster attached to the column? Theres a slot for it to go you have to line it up, its guess and check or at least thats how I do it when I take the digi dash off mine.
If you take the panel off that goes under the steering column you can see where the clip attaches. When you move the leaver to select the gear a shield around the steering column moves pulling the wire loop attached to the clip. The wire loop runs up into the dash. If the wire broke were you can see it try to fix it, maybe use the inside of one of those tube type wire connectors. If this does not work or the wire has fallen out then you have to take the dash out and apart to re-thread the wire. I ended up cutting what was left of the wire off the clip and made a loop of the same length out of fishing string. Got me through inspection and lasted about five years. Good luck.
