so i went down and asked the local shop if they could do a y-pipe for me and he said that he could but he doesnt want to "mickey mouse shit" and put a 2.5" y-pipe on the stock manifolds- he said that i should just take out the precat and put and be done- and he said that there is no HP to be gained through the y-pipe :censor: so w/e my ass- He is basically refusing to put on a y-pipe on my truck-

What do you guys pay for a y-pipe to be put on-

My goal now is put as many bolt ons on my truck to make it as fast as i can N/A and stop spraying 4 a while so header/y-pipe are on the way

Mine was like $150 to get custom made. I have JBA headers also. But just get the edelbrock header and y-pipe kit. There is plenty of power to be unleased in the y-pipe.

Do you have headers? The edelbrocks come with a y-pipe. Or, go to a different exhaust shop that will do it for you.
i havea 2002 so the edelbrocks wont work- But he had a 2003 blazer their putting on the edelbrock headers- he said they work fine because of no EGR- im thinking of trying this

could i get the headers for a 98 s10 4l60e and just cut off the air tube and weld it shut?

I remember reading a post a long time ago about Bill Mach
saying that stock manifolds flow pretty well up to 300 hp. The
problem is the small dia of the y-pipe along with it's crinkled
bends. I've also read other posts here where members who had
changed over to the SLP y-pipe when it was avail did notice
more power along with a free flowing exhaust past the y-pipe
to the end pipe, be it a turn down or a tail pipe.

I think that's pretty close to being right on the money. I had the
center section cut out of the y-pipe I have as it's the same size
as a Blazer's which I think is 2.00". I have a reg pc of 2" welded
into place where the factory flatten pc was. It did seem like a
lil more top end became avail, but I can't really be sure..Still
for only 25.00 bucks I did it.

So I suggest going after a Blazer y-pipe and having the center
section cut out and a nice 2 or 2.25" pc welded in it's place.
There are plenty of Blazers sitting in the junk yards. The only
drawback being the crinkled bends, but an exhaust shop might
be able to cut these out and make nice smooth bends and
then weld em in..:dunno:

That's true. I remember reading a thread in the Consumer
Reports forum about him and a member here a yr or so back.
Seems Mach did do some strange dealings, I don't know..
People recall both good and bad.
