I've been having a big electrical problem with my 1st gen s10. Whenever i turn the parking lights, and it only does it with the parking lights, the radio i installed turns off. I've narrowed it down i believe to the running lights circuit, but I'm not sure if theres a short, or if the turn signal switch the guy who had it before me put in. Anyone know what the problem could be? Also is there a plug for the steering column to unlpug all the electronics in it, and if so where?

Sadly i wish the solution was that simple, i used to original power that the old radio used. I've spent days trying to figure out the issue, a lot of other things have low power, like the cigarette lighter, and i think even the blower motor, i dont care much about those working right, so im really just thinking about running a new power and saying **** it, it doesn't matter if i have low voltage on a bunch of stuff.

Are you getting 13.8 volts from the alternator when it's running?
Might want to check that the dash properly grounded. Run a check of the resistance between any black wire under the dash and the - post of the battery.
Check the front and rear grounds for your lights. Front will be on the rad support on both sides and the rear is on the frame below the left tail light.
@Jayhawke is right. Double check your connections behind the radio. Did you use a Metra adapter or cut and tape?

Check the ground connectors on the left and right fenders. The one on the right is ground for the blower and maybe the cig lighter. They are undersized and get burned. Could the radio display power and radio power be reversed? Did the old radio also have this problem?
