Which is the best most cost effective distributer that can used with this setup? Have a week to buy it and don’t want to buy one then replace…

It’s a1986 but going carbed… 2.8 and sub $300 I suppose

86 carbed will require the older 82-85 distributor with vacuum advance. Rockauto has them. Last one I bought was about $60 if I remember right. There's literally no real advantage to some "race" distributor. HEI will work just fine.

That one doesn’t have vacuum. You need one WITH vacuum.

Distributors with the vacuum pot have both mechanical and vacuum advance.

The one you bought will work, just work like crap with flat spots on the acceleration curve.

They did when I bought one last month; I guess I got the last one. Keep checking.

Check FLAPS, GMPartsdirect, and eBay for used, as well as junk yards.

So what do you suggest I do?

DUI would take too long and real expensive lol… I just want something that will have it run well right out of the shop! So if you can let me know which one I’ll return the one I bought and go from there.
