I'm sure I'm not the only one to have fought with the emergency brake cable removal. Those little spring loaded fingers are nearly impossible to collapse so they can be pulled through the mounting hole. I have a solution!

I found that a 1/2" washer (actual ID 0.527" per my cheap HF digital caliper) fits snugly over the fingers and collapses them sufficiently that the fitting can be driven back through the mounting hole..
