Not gonna talk alotta .... just vent alil, ihad two crossmembers (trans and driveshaft) made By a well known shop (meaning they’ve been around 20yrs) and while the welds are great on 90% of it, the craftsmanship is trash, the holes don’t line up for ...., and it wasn’t welded in a jig. Just eyeballed it.

now I could’ve made this stuff myself but having them make it would save me time and it wasn’t expensive, so I felt it was a good decision. Or so I thought.

moral of the story, unless Thor bro’s makes it, or u drop your truck off at a shop, just do it yourself lol

-due to covid, I never checked the parts, it’s been over a year since I got them. So I didn’t call them and complain, just gonna fix and move on-

You ever buy anything from avsontheweb.com? I'm looking to get some filler panels and try my hand at shaving stuff.

Just their door popper kits, and switch boxes Which are nice-was actually getting ready to buy some filler panels myself, I don’t want to attempt the 3rd brake light filler. Antenna and tailgate I can handle lol

I'm planning on doing the antenna, hood pissers, and third brake light. Eventually the gas door too, but they're out of stock of those.

Haven’t found the pieces yet, still looking. My gas door filler is in the same bag so I’ll find it

I got the trans crossmember in by drilling every single hole one size bigger with a step bit and i was able to make it work. Not too bad, 1/4” away from the exhaust so not great by any means but it was ok in the end.

The driveshaft crossmember tho..... devious royally ** that one up, mounting spots wrong, bar too high, holes drilled off, I ended up drilling new holes for the carrier bearing and just welding it in, and modifying the exhaust so it didn’t hit it. It’s in, I can set pinion angle now and It’s not a show truck so I’m moving on.

be curious to know more about the devious bar. jeff is a long time friend of mine, and if there is an issue, im sure he'd like to know to have it fixed or corrected to not have any other issues.

I never called him back, I bought it pre covid and I didn’t mean to even mention the name lol I was just typing my thoughts.

I did a lot of searching on here and online after I had issues and there were a lot of complaints on fitment of the trans crossmember. So I figured f it, open up the holes a lil for some wiggle room and maybe it’ll be good to go. And it was It’s extremely close to the exhaust to the point that u can’t re-use the stock hanger but the exhaust doesn’t move so no big deal, it worked, didn’t need to cut and plate the stock one.

the drive shaft cross member was the headache, I’ve come to the conclusion that all the pieces were cut out right but when it came time to weld them together it wasn’t assembled in the jig right, and it was Slightly not square. On install The crossmember occupied the same spot as the exhaust, the side plates were welded in upside down, no matter which way I flipped it to try and make use of it to make it work it just wasn’t happening. Even if The exhaust was removed, 3 holes on the side plates weren’t in the right spot and I would’ve had to drill new ones. I ended up drilling new holes for the carrier bearing and welded it in. But at that point it’s the same as taking a scrap piece out the garage, drilling two holes and welding it in. That’s free compared to paying for the part I got from them.

long story short it seems like the trans member has the same Small issues it always had but it’s workable if you can operate a drill, and the driveshaft xmember was just a screw up. Sh!t happens lol
