I've never dealt with custom exhaust or anything. Soon I'll be putting airbags on my truck and I will have to cut the muffler right before the axel to allow travel. All I'll be doing is making the last bit of pipe a couple of feet shorter, will that change the way it sounds now?

ya alot of difference you mite get a ticket for noise pollution :)

if you have a stock muffler, no it will not change the sound very much at all. if you have a performance muffler, it may change the sound a bit. basically, the rule of thumb is, the more pipe the less sound. but stock mufflers are pretty well dampened anyway so you're not lookin at too much if any sound change.
