so i have a 96 S10 2.2L 5 speed regular cab short box 2WD with 165,000 miles. since i bought it in November i have replaced the following: plugs, wire, both coils, PCV valve, EGR valve, up stream O2, removed clogged cat, water pump, and fresh oil change. in city mileage while delivering pizzas ive gotten a best of 18 MPG, but on the highway im only getting about 19 MPG which to me seems a bit low. it runs great, very smooth no check engine light or anything. what am i missing here? is there something else i could replace? also, all of these number were gotten with 89 octane E10, which by me is the cheapest grade, i just filled up with 87 which is $.10 more a gallon but is ethanol free so ill see if that makes any difference. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are your brakes dragging? How well does your truck coast?

Bigger, heavier wheels and wider tires will definitely hurt your mpg if you have those.

Honestly my truck also runs awesome but gets 18mpg if I'm lucky (lots of short trips and city driving though).

Let me see:
Air filter
clutch fan (get electic fan)
A/C compressor ---keep it off
stock tires 205/75/R15. Lots of air pressure.
Pull out jump seats, remove all personal items from bed
take off back bumper
remove stock cast iron header and get after market.
remove tailgate.
get manual transmission
never have more than 1/4 tank of gas.

See if that helps.
