I have a 2001 chevy s10 2.2l with a manual 5 speed nv1500 transmission. What is the correct transmission oil to use and where can I find it?

Pennzoil or Valvoline Synchromesh Transmission Fluid is standard. Amsoil, Royal Purple, and others offer synthetics.

There seems to be a lot of confusion on what is used in the NV1500. The NV1500 uses Sychromesh with friction modifiers, not plain Sychromesh. Synchromesh and Synchromesh with friction modifiers are different fluids. GM recommends 88900399 (which replaces 12377916 and 10-1014) for the NV1500 and nothing else.
